 laurel class Hub

  Welcome to Y6!

This week in Year 6:

Well, what can I say? The children were superb in their play. Every single one of them put their absolute all into their part. It really wasn't easy learning that much material in a short time and in the heat  - as you felt, that hall gets hot!   And they did it.

Of course it was never in doubt - they are extremely talented and capable children and you will all be rightly very proud of them.

I hope that School of Rock has been a highlight of their year and it will be something that they remember for a long time.  Below are some photos from our dress rehearsal to the rest of the school.  The performance last night was filmed in its entirety and I will send a link out for that so you can download asap.

This will be the last class hub update for the year and of course, there will not be homework!

Having said that, have done very little academic learning in the last couple of weeks and the summer holidays are long, so please do encourage your child to at least read over the holidays. This will really have a big impact on their start at secondary school, allowing them to hit the ground running.

Reports will be out tomorrow but unfortunately, as I have explained to the children, the government have failed to get SATS marks out to schools when they said they would (7th) and therefore, reports will not initially include a mark for reading, maths and grammar. The results are coming to us on the 16th and we will send the reports again, this time including the marks. But in the meantime, if you have any queries or questions about your child's report, do come and speak to me.

Finally, we will be sending home children's exercise books. Please could you give your child a strong carrier bag with your child's name on it for us to put these in; they can bring this in as soon as possible.

Thank you so much for all your support and we look forward to seeing many of you at the Y6 assembly on Tuesday next week.
